Per this article, Roscoe Cassidy passed away recently at the grand old age of 107.
I'm afraid that all I have is the name and the age. Can anyone here find out details like when he joined up, which unit he served with, and so on? I'd like to hear a little bit of the story behind the man.
Also, for my own edification, I'd love to know how you went about obtaining any information you find.
Roscoe Cassidy is my father, I have the information from his Honorable Discharge for those interested. You can reach me at jodi_cassidy@yahoo.com Thank you
He served in Tunisia, southern France, the Rhineland and Rome Arno.
He was overseas for the thru the end of the war where he earned 4 bronze stars. He was a combat engineer and was honorably discharged as a PFC.
After the war he got into farming and road work ( doesn't specify ).
His favorite meal was bologna sandwich and ale.
I'll bet one of the more historically inclined fellows could guess at his unit based on where he served.
I think these sources are alright since ones the patriot guard and the other is his son.
Edit: and I googled his name.
