Are there examples of trades and professions, that became common knowledge hence lost their epithet profession?

The only example I can think of are "readers and writers", from what I understand munks, who could read and write. I guess just technically being able to do that (disregarding the content/authorship) wasn't a really sought after trade when literacy among the common population rose.
