I read online that King Henry VII's armor was so well-made that NASA studied it while they were designing the space suits for the moon landing. Are there any other suits of mideval armor that inspired modern technology?

for the curious. the designers were having issues maintaining pressure while keeping the suit flexible enough.

they looked at old armor plating for inspiration in improving the joints.

During WWI, Bashford Dean (Curator of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC) was approached by the US Govt to design a helmet which would protect US soldiers vs. head trauma. Bashford Dean used his vast knowledge of Medieval Arms and Armour to help design eight different prototypes of helmet as well as protections for neck, torso, arms and legs. In the end, however, WWI ended before any of Bashford Deans' designs saw more than field testing.

Bashford's work, along with the work of Stephen Grancsay (who succeeded Bashford as Curator of the Met) influenced the armor that was used later in WWII, the Korean War, Vietnam, and can even be seen to this very day.
