Having been to Berlin a couple of times I've noticed that they still sell the old East-German cola variety there, called Vita cola. Now as the label clearly states it's got a 'Citrus-Kick' and although it really looks like Coca cola, it tastes completely different.

Now my understanding is that the whole concept of Vita cola came about due to the fact that the people of GDR could receive western TV-broadcasts and thus were exposed to Coca cola ads, but that the GDR couldn't get all the resources necessary to make a proper knockoff so they just copied the looks with the population being none the wiser.

Was there any feeling of being blatantly lied to by their soft drinks manufacturers after reunification or were people just too busy with more important matters?
