A few questions about the Admonitions of Ipuwer (Ancient Egypt)

I've been reading this document and I've been wondering a few things and was hoping reddit might be able to give me some answers!

  1. Why have historians associated this text with the first intermediate period? I can't find anything that directly links it to that period. Is it possible to interpret it differently?

  2. Did any of the events Ipuwer describes happen during the first intermediate period? Like do we have any evidence for any of the events?

  3. Can we really read this text as a historical text that describes the conditions of the first intermediate period?

  4. Lastly how has this text affected how we view the first intermediate period? would it still be viewed as a dark period if we didn't have this text?

It's been a while since I've read it, but I remember Bell, Barbara 1971 “The Dark Ages in Ancient History. I. The First Dark Age in Egypt.” American Journal of Archaeology 75/1: 1–26. discussing most of your questions. Sorry I can't be of more help.
