I cannot answer this out of the standing but there is an awesome 1968 book devoted entirely on the history of the Russian tea planting and tea drinking by William Pokhlyobkin. I'll see if he mentioned the mutual influence with Persia in any way.

In the meantime here is something that you probably already know: The Russian word for tea is Persian and the Persian word for the traditional tea cooking equipment is Russian.
