Two part question I guess. First, how much of a failure was the League of Nations. And second, I know only 51 states signed into the UN Charter, but was there any hesitation even by those 51 that the UN would similarly fail, or doomed to fail?
The phrase "United Nations" initially referred to the Allies of WWII. The UNO (United Nations Organization) founded in San Francisco was supposed to be a continuation of the WWII alliance in the post-war era.
In other words, the UN isnt a resurrection of a failed organization. It's a continuation of an extremely successful one.
