If you look at a map why are there such large countries like Brazil how didn't Spain colonize some of the coast of Brazil or Canada (I know that the British took over French Canada) or India how did Great Britain colonize all of that with out at least France or Spain interfering

They fought for that as well. Part of the previous british colony in India, were once french colony. The things is, the world is vast, and country couldn't fight everywhere at the same time.
Colony were important, but the mainland was always the priority, so they couldn't go all in for their colonies. France for example sold or simply left colonies to fight the british in Europe. (Florida being the most known).
