I have recently come into possession of a history of Prekburg in quite an unusual binding and format. Each chapter appears to have been printed separately by year spanning 1892 - 1912. The text itself appears to be in German, however, since I do not speak that language I cannot confirm. My questions for the historians are thus:
Are you able to determine what these documents refer to? (I understand this may be better suited for a translator)
Have you seen historical documentation of this type (binding, etc) previously?
Is Dr. Theodor Ortvay a historian of particular note?
And finally (and probably more specific to AskHistorians), are there any interesting/world changing events of note that may have taken place during this time in Slovakia?

Text is definitely written in German, and the Fraktur script. The city is Pressburg, not Prekburg -- your are misreading the fraktur "scharfes S" (ß) as a "k"

The text is the Geschichte der Stadt Pressburg, which basically means "History of the City of Pressburg". Pressburg was the historical German-language name of the city today known was Bratislava. When this book was published, in the late 19th and early 20th century, Bratislava was generally known as Pressburg, and was city of the Kingdom of Hungary within the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Until well into the 20th century, much of the population of city spoke German or Hungarian, not Slovkian, was their main language of daily life.
The digital copy on Archive.org is incomplete, with numerous missing pages. Also, I cannot speak or read German very well. Nevertheless, from what I can tell, the text is essentially a history of city of Pressburg from the 12th century AD, maybe earlier. The earliest date I see that I am sure is not a page number is 1142 A.D, on page 363 in the Archive.org edition. I'm not sure when the history ends -- the digitized edition on Archive.org seems to be missing some of the later chapters.
The Author seems to have gone by several names, including Theodor Ortvay, depending on what language we was writing in. I found a wikipedia page that I think is for the same person, but it's in Hungarian: http://hu.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ortvay_Tivadar
Google translate says that this guy published as history of Bratislava (Pressburg) in four volumes between the years 1892 and 1912, so I'm reasonably certain we are looking at the same person whose books you have a copy of.
