Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII, was executed on May 19 1536 on the charges of adultery, incest, and treason (as far as I am aware). How likely is it that she committed any of those acts and what is the evidence for them? If it is unlikely what is the most likely reason she and her supposed partners were executed? Was the King personally motivated to get rid of her?

Most historians agree that the accusations towards Anne Boleyn weren't true. What was she guilty of? Too much involvement in religion (Cardinal Wolsey also lost his head because of this matter later) and politics. Moreover the king realized she can't give him a son and after her last miscarriage he needed to get rid of her in order to get a new younger wife.
What does treason mean in the context of 16th century England? Obviously, she wasn't selling nuclear warhead secrets to the Chinese...
