I know the title makes it sounds like I want an answer to a homework question, but I want to compare the "current" percentage (48.5 percent in 2012) to percentages from a long time ago, preferably before the Civil Rights Movement. I cannot find anything through Google, however. Did they not take note of these things back then? What is the farthest back the records go?
What, exactly, do you mean by 'hate crime percentage'? The closest thing I can find to your statistic is that the FBI reported in 2012 that 48.3% of hate crimes were racially motivated, which is an essentially meaningless datum.
