Whenever I see a documentary about the Sovjet Union, it always describe the suffering of the people. People was supressed, poor, starving ect. ect. But if so many people lived under the communism, somebody must have thought it was a good way to live. Was nobody genuine happy about living under the communism, without being brain washed by propaganda?
No, but It depends on where and when you lived. As the USSR progressed, living conditions got much better, especially from the 50s to the 80s (although stagnation started in the early 80s). If you lived in Moscow or Leningrad, or in the Baltics or Ukraine, especially in a city you would enjoy more material goods than the farmer.
