I guess the eastern front too, but the western was so tight and fiercely fought for over such little ground. How did they remove the bodies? Where'd they put them? Wouldn't retrieving and burying tens of thousands (sometimes) of men a day or week be an astronomical logistics nightmare that would divert considerable resources? ie: you'll need men, trucks or horses, food, a system for identifying who they are and where they should go, etc. Right? How'd this work?
