My Great Great Grandfather is the one in the middle. We were looking for origins (we think it's italian), time period, and any other information you guys could figure out for us. Please and thank you!

Do you have a date range at all?
Frankly speaking, identifying the unit in this image will be impossible without the hat. The hat will give often the specific unit; without it we can only really tell general branch of service.
My speculative guess would be these men are Italian Artillery Officers, circa World War One, based on the way they do not have a cross-belt and harness, and by the small collar and dramatic gorgets. However they may have removed the harness. Regardless, if Italian, these are definitely First World War uniforms (the style does not reflect 1945 fashions).
