How old is our hypothetical male?
Might be somewhat helpful, there was a reddit thread TIL a few months ago that 80% of males born in the soviet union in 1923 didn't survive world war 2.
I've found age census data and tried to count but then I quickly realised there was massive internal and external migration so this won't help much.
Anyway, if it helps: in 1939 there were 4305641 males of 40-49 age in Russia, there were 5449114 of 30-39 males in 1926 and there was census in 1897 but it was for whole Russian Empire and included Ukrainians and Belarusians as Russians so you'd have to filter data to get some results.
