Hello there. I searched through the FAQ's and the subreddit but couldn't find what I'm looking for. I am asking here because I would like to find films/series that are as historically accurate as possible without being a documentary (which I've found to be a dime a dozen). I am asking here and not /r/movies because I would like a tolerable amount of historical accuracy and I assume most historians like films corresponding to their favorite era!

I have watched and enjoyed the following and would really like to find more. I know that most of these are fiction, and while I don't mind them, I was hoping that these would the minimal "level" of inaccuracy. If I were looking for complete accuracy, I would find a good documentary.

-Sharpe's Rifles

-The Hornblower Series

-Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

-The Battle of Waterloo (seems to be the most accurate of the bunch)

-John Adams (HBO Series)

-The Patriot

-Barry Lyndon

-The Bounty (Anthony Hopkins/Mel Gibson version)

-Last of the Mohicans

-Pride and Prejudice

Also, you might notice that this list is England-centric, and I would love to switch sides and see this era's stories from a non-English perspective (France, Spain, Prussia, etc.). My problem with some of these productions is that while they may be pretty, the situations that the characters find themselves in seem unlikely and it distracts from the enjoyment (see Hornblower). They don't have to be action-packed, and don't even have to have any war at all.

TL;DNR A film/series that:

-Presents the era well

-Isn't a documentary

-Isn't a complete fantasy (but artistic license is allowed. I like historical fiction, but don't want Wellington beheading Napoleon with a lightsaber, you know?)

-Non-English-language is perfectly fine assuming there are subtitles
