Was chivalry a code devised for keeping soldiers with PTSD from acting out?

I have been told by 2 different people, with no sources, that chivalry arose from the flood of men coming back from the Crusades suffering from what we would now classify as PTSD. Is there any truth to this? Would the same apply to other honor codes around the world like Bushido?
