One could argue that Ištar is another ancient example of death and resurrection. Let's be clear with this, however: we are talking about the oldest RECORDED version of a resurrection story. Whatever stories we're looking at were likely circulated before - if not long before - they were recorded, so all we can do is ask what are the oldest records of this motif, which undoubtedly has roots that predate writing.
