Could private consumers hire "human computers?" Were there specific places that provided this service? Were some known for more accurate computing than others?

I realize human computation covers a spectacularly wide range of human history, from early Mesopotamia/Egypt up to the early 1900s... but what I'm asking is, are there any historical examples of "human computers" for rent to private consumers, in any era - and if so, what would the consumer experience in that sector have been like?

Isn't this just the description of an accountant?
