Were soldiers from the Civil War honored often by Commemorative Cornerstones? An example in text

I photographed these plaques before they finished demolishing an old building in Detroit Mi.

The building was one of my favorites and I photographed it for years. Converted to a Men's club then closed and made into a Baptist Church and finally abandoned and taken down. No one really cared. Beautiful paver bricks stamped Steubenville O.

I have just gone through my old negatives and discovered these old pics and wondered if anyone can supply info about, thanks!

Not related to the civil war but I.O.O.F stands for international order of oddfellows. It's a fraternal organization similar to the masons. They might have some more info on that building and its cornerstone
