Hey there! That is a really odd story and although I was not able to find anything particular on this, I am pretty confident in saying that this most likely didn't happen as described. You see, cricket is really a fringe sport with a small devoted community in Germany and not very present in the minds of the public. The German Cricket Association (Deutscher Cricket-Bund) was founded in 1989 actually and even the German national cricket team seems to consist almost exclusively of South Asians or Germans of South Asian descent. That is not to say that cricket has not been played before in Germany (it most certainly was, even the German Wikipedia claims that -- but sadly without citing any sources) but that it was more of a pastime for a minority interested in exotic sports. Football (soccer) is the national sport of Germany.

I find it highly unlikely that Adolf Hitler 1. found the time to watch a cricket game between Germany and Great Britain, and 2. that the inevitable outcome would upset him so much that he would have taken such extreme measures. Besides, please keep in mind that National Socialist Germany was far from the comically evil dictatorship is sometimes made out to be. While the regime was surely genocidal, tyrannical, and bent on territorial expansion it was not the personal playground of a maniac who would just execute people on a whim -- even more so if the people in question are Germans.

It certainly didn't happen.

Britain only played one tournament, over 30 years before Hitler came to power. England and Wales, Scotland and Ireland have all competed separately since then.

Also, in addition to what LBo87 says, at that point in history there was a MASSIVE gulf in quality between cricket in the top few countries and the ROTW. If Germany had drawn with England/Britain at cricket, the Nazi's would have screamed it from the rooftops.
