When women fought in war, before firearms we introduced, were breastplates conformed to fit tightly to the female body (specifically around the breast), and was there any loss of structural integrity?

I often see women warriors in modern culture depicted with curved armor that compliments their natural physique and I began to wonder if that was done for entertainment purposes of if it was accurately depicted.
