First off I just want to say that this is purely for me. It's not for an assignment or anything.

I just watched Band of Brothers again and I'm incredibly intrigued by the scene where they find the camp and have to figure out exactly what it is. I'm basically looking for written accounts of that type of experience. Basically soldiers having no idea what they're walking into. I'm definitely looking for pieces that spend time focusing on the emotional response to what was found as opposed to simply describing what they found.

I hope this is appropriate for this sub and I am doing some googling of my own but I figured I'd come ask you guys for help as well. Thanks in advance!
