Useful historiography surrounding the approach would be greatly appreciated also
The term 'history from below' was first used by E. P. Thompson so his work would be a great place to start. The Houses of History edited by Anna Green and Kathleen Troup has an interesting chapter on Marxist history. It discusses most of the major historians and problems surrounding Marxist history. It also provides a chapter by Exploitation by E. P Thompson as an example of what a Marxist might write. 'Doing History' by Mark Donnelly and Claire Norton is also good for historiography. It contains a section on history from below as well as other forms of history so that you can easily compare and contrast them for an essay. Hope that helps.
