Are there any actual legends of the crystal skulls from ancient times. All of the sites I'm looking at all say "according to legend." What legend?
Good question LSB. The short answer is no. The long answer is that in the past few years, a Maya daykeeper (who monitors the calendar for his community) named Hunbatz Men has claimed there is a crystal skull legend among the Maya. No other Maya have supported this claim however, and so you have to consider whether this is a belief held by one person, who happens to be Maya, rather than a belief held by the Maya more broadly. As you may know, every crystal skull that has been examined by scientists has been found to be of modern manufacture either because of the remains of modern synthetic drilling materials like carborundum, rotary tools, or by their chemical composition linking them to sources in Madagascar or Brazil. None matches actual ancient manufacturing techniques.
