I just read an article decrying how racist Ridley Scott's new "Exodus" movie is. I'm not asking about the historical accuracy of the Exodus narrative, I'm just curious if the article's author was correct in suggesting Egyptians would appear "African". I would expect them to look more like modern Egyptians.
They would indeed. If one looks at classical Egyptian art, the people featured look like modern Egyptians. The mummy portraits that exist in large numbers, although often dating from Greek and Roman times, are of Egyptians, and portray Egyptians as they really were, and they look remarkably like Egyptians now.
