Yes. For example, conservative pundit David Horowitz was a member of the Black Panthers and worked with them a lot--he raised funds, helped with some financial stuff, and wrote some stuff for them. His experience, specifically that some Panthers killed a woman he'd recommended they use as an accountant, let to him leaving the party and ultimately switching his politics from extreme left-wing to extreme right wing.
