I know that it was through the killing of Archduke Ferdinand but I want to know what led up to the assassination attempt. I know about the Austrian-Hungarian acquisition of the Slavic states of Bosnia and Herzegovina also but I need more then those reasons.
The main reason to act fast was the age of Franz Josef, and the plans of Franz Ferdinand to reorganize the empire into many states. Such reorganization would ease the tensions, and as such Serbia couldnt capitalize on internal struggles, while obviously, AH would become stronger due to lack of those same tensions.
And sorry for necro, just saw that this was not answered yet.
