This is not something they went over in my European History class. When the news stations say that President Obama is in the Hague, are they saying he's in a town, a building or something else altogether?
The Hague is the English name for a Dutch city called Den Haag, it the Dutch seat of government (Amsterdam is the capital). It is also home to the Permanent court of artbitration, the International Court of Justice, which handles conflicts between countries, and the International Criminal Court, which tries people for crimes against humanity, or at least tries to, when their own countries are unable or unwilling to do so.
The reason Obama was in The Hague earlier this year was the Nuclear Security Summit.
