I recently read a comic book about Dracula that was more inspired by the life of Vlad the Impaler than the actual Stoker book. I wanted to learn more about the historical figure and the war between Wallachia and the Turks. Can anyone recommend a good book about the actual man?
There aren't many serious books in English about Vlad the Impaler (or Vlad Tepes in Romanian). I heard about "Dracula: A Biography of Vlad the Impaler 1431-1476" by Radu Florescu and Raymond T. McNally. Never read it, but the authors say the book is based on 10 years of research.
