I am looking for a comprehensive history of the Russian Civil War. In particular I am interested in the Siberian Intervention and other happenings in the Far East and Transbaikal. I have a very limited knowledge of Russian history so something that doesn't require a lot of pre-requisite knowledge would be most helpful. Can anyone point me some good starting resources? An easy to digest book would be great.
By far the best single text I've encountered specifically focusing on the civil war (rather than bundling up the war into a broader narrative about the revolution and the birth of the USSR) is The Russian Civil War by Evan Mawdsley. It's thorough, well-researched and highly readable.
