Were any of the pre-colonial civilizations in the Americas more forward-thinking in some aspects than Europeans?

Growing up, the natives have typically been depicted as savages, cannibals, barbaric etc., but I find it difficult to believe that everything they were was wrong. What are some aspects of pre-colonial societies that were better than Europeans?

This is a terribly subjective question. Could you define it in more concrete terms and perhaps provide a region of interest?

Honestly from NDN perspective we consider the greedy, power hungry colonists the savages.
