What do you mean by "not to trust"?

Politically speaking he was right in the sense that many of his generals were only loyal so long as Germany was victorious and there were a series of plots against him from members of the military from 1938 onwards, culminating in the failed July 20th coup d'etat. In this sense, he was right to place trusted army officers who were ideologically inclined towards National Socialism like Keitel and Jodl at the top of the Wehrmacht hierarchy because if push comes to shove they can be politically relied upon to defend the regime against domestic threats, even if they were men of lesser ability than many other officers.
