In keeping with the subreddit rules, I'm not going to answer your question directly, because it's homework. It's a pretty straightforward question; I assume you've got a textbook to work with. Here's what you need to answer:
What was the one-drop rule?
Why would such a "rule" be adopted? How did slaveowners benefit from such a rule?
Where did the one-drop rule apply? British North America, or elsewhere?
If the one-drop rule didn't apply everywhere, what were the alternatives?
Where else besides British North America have you studied the history of slavery? Sainte Domingue, perhaps? Brazil? What did you learn about slavery in these other areas? Make columns on a sheet of paper and make lists of all the facts about slavery in British North America and the other places you've studied.
Does your textbook have an illustration like this one? Where might you find these racial categories? British North America? If not, why not? What factors determined your race?
