I'm looking for best publications related to wars between mentioned sites. They're a gift for someone who's a professional historian (specialised in Roman Republic, Carthage) who's looking to expand his interests in that direction.
I'm looking preferably for sources (I'm aware that there won't be many), archaeological records, and secondary sources in the last place.
The most recent overview for what you want is The Philistines and Other Sea Peoples in Texts and Archaeology, ed. Ann E. Killebrew and Gunnar Lannan, which includes a number of excellent essays on the "Sea Peoples" and what they were and were not as well as a useful compedium of references to them in primary sources. Brotherhood of Kings is an overview of late Bronze Age diplomatic practice that may be of interest to your person, although I'm not quite sure how academic it is. Harry Hoffner's Letters from the Hittite Kingdom and Gary Beckman's Hittite Diplomatic Texts includes some of the Egyptian-Hittite diplomatic correspondence as well as a wide range of other Hittite administrative and diplomatic texts, which are both extremely informative primary sources and surprisingly entertaining reading.
