Yes. Take the example of Argentina in the late 80's. Huge current accounts imbalance and sovereign debt payments essentially crashed the value of the Argentine Peso. They went from almost dollar parity in 1986 to the an exchange rate of about 10,000 pesos per dollar in late 1991. Cavallo then pegged the Peso to the Dollar and achieved dollar parity by law until 2001.

Obviously, that's a bit of a cheat-y answer, but that's usually the way countries stem hyperinflation: peg to a stable currency and stop the printing press--often opting to destroy currency.
