I know this is a sensitive subject for many, and I want to start by saying I do not think the occupation of Korea was good for Korea in any way. I am not trying to justify the actions of the Japanese, either.
Since the end of WWII, I have met many Koreans who dislike Japan, often citing WWII as their reason. They say that Japan tried to erase and destroy all of Korea's unique culture and history. This sounded like a seriously horrible thing that was done, so I didn't disagree with them. However, I was surfing the internet for more information of this particular period of history, and I honestly saw some good refuting arguments on the Japanese side. I saw a collection of school textbooks that were written in Korean, about Korean history published under the Japanese government. I honestly don't know what to believe, and I would love to find out more about this time period. Please help me become informed.

I recommend this book. "The new Korea" by Alleyne Ireland, a British professor of colonial studies. The Japanese people got tired of Korean's "anti-Japan"propaganda. And people in other countries blindly believes only what Koreans said and ignore Japanese point of view. It is stated in the Japan-republic of Korea Basic Relations Treaty, that "post war process is confirmed having been thoroughly and definitively settled." surprisingly, the Korean government has left the korean nation uninformed about this treaty. The Korean president cannot reign her own nation without people's "anti-Japanese" feelings. I hope the people of Korea will be able to free themselves from their postwar nationalistic, brainwashing education that they have come to accept as normal, and that they will see the truth of their own pre-WW2 history with their own eyes. The Koreans reflexively regards the Japanese with hostility so the Japanese come get tired of trying to have good relationship with them. "Do not Korea." Some of you knows what this mean.
