sorry if this is the wrong sub to ask this. i'll ask on /r/history if this gets removed. or /r/archaeology even though that sub looks kinda inactive. i just want to get some answers and save this thread so i can come back to it every once in a while to remind me to google them every once in a while to see if there are any new discoveries and whatnont.
hi! I actually think just subscribing to /r/Archaeology would do the trick. As you say, they're not all that active, but that's more in terms of membership/discussion: they post articles all the time, which I think would be useful to you.
As for this sub, there are a few archaeologists and interested parties here; /u/iwinagin's made the best suggestion. Other subs with an interest in archaeology worth a look are /r/AskAnthropology or even /r/AskScience

Better yet, today is Wednesday.
Browsing through the archive of posts will probably give you a good start on finding some new and interesting things. If you have a specific interest I suggest you post again with a more specific focus. In general in AskHistorians the best answers come from very specific questions.
There is a Prehistoric site off the coast of Haida Gwai that seems to be getting some attention. There was a article posted recently on /r/Archaeology
