Brought up in Wales, coming back for christmas has awokan some half-memory from primary school.

The memory is an image and an explination. Some army, dressed in blue, all with some muzzle-loaded guns shouldered up, is marching in columbs down the middle of a valley, when angry locals, notably women dressed in the traditional dress run down the hills every now and then and attack with rolling pins. The explination is it's some small sneak task force from France trying to attack England, or some British infastructure, and the local wives get angry and beat them off with rolling pins, so the French soldiers (not wanting to fight women) get back in their boats and head home.

But this now makes no sense to me. But I remember the image and the video where they do that "get actors to dress up as soldiers and children who were there and do fake interviews" thing. It's got me so confused, did anything like this ever happen? Did 2 things like this ever happen and I'm smushing memories? The class would've taken place in the late 90s, if that helps.
