Hellenism is the modern revival of the worship of the Olympian pantheon. The YSEE was organized in 1997, with the revival taking place during the 1990s.

While there are members who claim that their traditions are a continuation of centuries old ethnic religious practices, these claims are dubious and not highly document. Of course, there is controversy. Much like the Old Believers of Russia, the heavy persecution of Christians would give considerable motivation to have purely oral and not written traditions, as a means of concealing such practices.

That being said, Ellenism is as likely to be an authentic continuation of the Greek religion as Wicca can be considered an authentic continuation of Druidism, which is to say, not very much.
