I can't answer your question directly, but you may be interested in learning about the Khazars. They were a polity in Eastern Europe, in an area where Catholicism, Orthodox Christianity, and Islam were all nearby. They descended from steppe tribes from the East. Though they weren't in "Christian Europe," necessarily, they were an interesting exception to the nearby nations, in that much of their nobility converted to Judaism.
