I am doing a history project, and the sources that I have so far don't really explain it. Was it that people liked the lack of King Farouk? Was it his personality or persuasiveness? Was it his new constitution? Any and all answers are appreciated, as well as sources that I can cite from in a paper.

Since you haven't gotten any other answers... I really, really recommend you read The Fate of Africa (The State of Africa if you're somewhere where you get the UK publication rather than the US one.) Two good sources:
On how he rose to power: "Britain, the United States and the Rise of an Egyptian Leader: The Politics and Diplomacy of Nasser’s Consolidation of Power, 1952–4" by Michael T. Thornhill, in English Historical Review.
On how he consolidated and grew his power: "Nasser and Nasserism" by Peter Mansfield in International Journal.
The first is comprehensive and talks about pretty much everything you want to know, focusing on how he exploited (for example) anti-British sentiment and Neguib to seize power and hold it, the second is an earlier and thus more dated study of it.
