Hi, so I'm doing a group presentation on the progressive era.
The "prompt" is whether the progressive era was a liberal movement or a conservative one.
Sadly, I got assigned to support the conservative side in our presentation.
I was wondering how this era can be considered conservative? I asked in other subreddits and websites, but I usually get chastised for even suggesting this time period was conservative and get lectured on how progressivism is inherently liberal.
That's not helpful.
I'd like some info on how this time period can be considered a conservative movement (you don't have to agree with it, I just need the info).
Thanks
I suggest you start by trying to define the three terms; "Progressive", "Liberal", "Conservative". You will find that none of these terms is easy to define, and how you define them will shape how you try to identify Progressives as Conservative.
