Were the remains of Virgina Dare found last month?

by flapanther33781

In another thread here a user posted a link to this story, which claims remains were found. However I noticed no sources were linked.

When I did a search for "virginia dare johns hopkins" the top result was this page which refutes the previous article, and no other articles that do support the first article's claim.

Does anyone here know more?

No. Look at the other stories on that site- Chupacabra attack?

They've been doing archaeology down there for years (though I don't know of any Hopkins sponsored work) but no Virginia Dare.

Edited to add- From yesterday:

I grew up near this part of the south and several things about this article didn't make any sense. I don't know about this dig but a few things to point out: The article states the bodies were found in Lanford, NC...there is no Lanford in NC as far as I can tell, as well as no Laurens county in NC.

There is, however, a Lanford South Carolina as well as a Laurens County in SC. These are not too far from the Enoree River which is mentioned in the article, but both of these are a considerable distance from the Chowan river in NC - also mentioned in the article.

So whether or not this discovery has been made, whoever wrote this article has no understanding of the area's geography and made some pretty big goofs without bothering to fact check. Take that for what it's worth.
