I remember a piece of a nursery rhyme from my childhood that states "You take the high road and I'll take the low road and I'll get to Scotland before you" Is this related to any historical events?
The song is called 'The Bonnie banks o' Loch Lomond' and the thinking is that it was in reference to the Jacobite Uprising of 1745. The author is unknown though so there's a bit of debate, which can be read bout here
