Just been reading about the post WWI germany a lot lately and wondering if there are any similar situations where a peace treaty offers such humiliation to the people of a country/kingdom/etc. that it can be directly traced to further wars.
Yes, one of the most prominent examples was the peace treaty that was forced on the Carthaginians by the Romans after their victory in the first Punic war. The conditions of the treaty that ultimately economically crippled Carthage and removed large amounts of territory were motivating factors for the 2nd and 3rd Punic wars.
