I have saw Unbroken and i have loved this, and i want to do research about that. Did some other sportsmen have participated at the WW2 and maybe they were POW and if yes did they survive or not ? Some books exists or not ?

One of the most famous that I can think of is wrestler Kristjan Palusalu, from Estonia. In 1936, he became the first (and is still the only) person to win gold medals in Greco-Roman and freestyle heavyweight wrestling in the same year.
After the Soviet Union invaded Estonia, Palusalu was sent to a forced labor camp. He attempted to escape but was recaptured and sentenced to death. After Germany and Finland attacked the Soviet Union, his death sentence was commuted to service in a penal battalion. That battalion was sent to the front line against Finland, and at the first available opportunity, he and several of his fellow prisoners defected to the Finns.
He was recognized as the celebrity he was, and after a brief imprisonment was allowed to return to Estonia. When the Soviet Union reconquered Estonia in 1945, Palusalu was arrested again. After another period of imprisonment, he was allowed to work as a wrestling trainer and referee. He died in 1987.
