What is the origin of not allowing images of Mohammed? I can easily imagine Mohammed including this command to prevent his own deification, but that's a long way from the current interpretation. Has the rule always been interpreted this way?

so some early hadiths banned images of prophets of islam so where those hadiths were considered ligitimate such actions would be banned.
