While watching a segment on Museum Secrets, claims were made that the overall Crusader efforts of the Third Crusade were largely successful despite the loss of Jerusalem to the Islamic side. Is there a missing angle to this period I am missing?
Is it really considered a success? i mean - from anglo-saxon perspective this was a crusade which english king paticipateed in. And become famous. Personally I think IIIrd crusade was a minor success due to recapturing some castles by the Mediterranean Sea and stopped Salah ad-Din's expansion. I find it also disturbing that crusaders took Cyprus from the Greeks.
