Just really curious how it became the standard for a democracy. I would think the public would rather have more options than two. Thanks for the time.
Federalist Party was opposed by the anti-federalist Democratic-Republican Party.
Later on as federalism no longer became an issue, federalists and a section of the Democratic-Republican Party joined to become the Nationak Republican Party to oppose Andrew Jackson who turned the Democratic-Republican party into the democratic party to support his policies.
Then the National Republican party became the whigs and later the Republican Party.
And the two parties have remained opposed to eachother since.
